Sony unleashes innovative camera system
Posted: February 2009

sony hxr mcSony has released its latest camera system that promises greater flexibility.

Its new camera and solid-state recorder combination — the HXR-MC1N/HXR-MC1P — is ideal for extreme sports, reality TV, documentaries, and nature and wildlife shots. This is because the camera head is separated from the control unit/recorder, to ¬allow users shooting flexibility in capturing angles otherwise not possible with handheld or shoulder-mounted camcorders.

The camera, which measures only 11/2 x 1 11/16 x 3 1/2 inches, includes a 10x optical zoom and a built-in microphone, allowing it to be attached to helmets or cars. It can also withstand the rain.

The light, compact system uses the Memory Stick PRO Duo media offering AVC-HD compression. The media can record up to six hours of HD content onto a 16GB Memory Stick ¬media.

“Cost per recording min¬ute of media is critical to professionals, and this compact camera gives professional users mobility and flexi¬bility in capturing full HD images in challenging and niche video applications,” said Isao Matsufune, assistant general manager, Business and Professional Pro¬ducts Asia-Pacific Company.

Offering full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, the HXR-MC1N/HXR-MC1P camera features Sony’s Exmor CMOS image sensor with ClearVid pixel array, enabling the user to enjoy low power consumption and maximum battery operation of up to 405 minutes.
