Sony will feature its full range of HD broadcast and production technologies, including its new line of camcorders, LCD monitors, viewfinder and recorder. The company will focus on customers’ diverse production requirements and need for a range of options that will fit their workflows.
A company source revealed: “Visitors will get to view Sony’s newest HDV camcorders with hybrid media flexibility to the growing XDCAM HD family and XDCAM EX solid-state system and up to the F23 and F35 CineAlta camera systems, as well as professional display products and more. There will be something for everyone in the Sony NAB 2009 stand.” Sony’s newest HDV camera — the HVR-Z5U — will be on display along with the other HD cameras in the product line, including the XDCAM EX PMW-EX1 and PMW-EX3 camcorders, as well as the HVR-Z7U and HVR-S270U. The HVR-Z5U expands Sony’s leading line-up of HD video products designed to meet the needs of professional videographers. Also on display is the expanded family of Sony’s XDCAM HD422 professional disc system which now includes PDW-HR1, a mobile unit designed as the ideal ENG/EFP complement for Sony’s newest XDCAM HD422 optical camcorder. Sony will also showcase its new HD compact point-of-view (POV) camera and solid-state recorder combination — model HXR-MC1 — which features a separate camera head from the control unit/recorder. Also on display at booth C11001 is the expanded line of Trimaster LCD monitors for critical evaluation and broadcast video production with two new models. While the PVM-L2300 23-inch broadcast-grade monitor is the newest entry in the Trimaster series, the BVM-L170 17-inch panel is the second entry in the series of LCD master monitors for critical-evaluation applications. To provide production professionals with a versatile eye-piece for the delivery of higher levels of colour accuracy and reproduction than the previous models, the new HDVF-C30WR viewfinder is designed for use with many of Sony’s professional HD cameras and camcorders. Its new LMD-940W nine-inch widescreen model (viewable area measured diagonally) is part of Sony’s line of Luma professional LCD displays.
