| Posted: March 2009 | ||||||
The HP (Hewlett-Packard) Z800 Workstation is expected to push innovation to higher levels by bringing control into the competitive environment of the user’s digital workplace. The system is touted to articulate excellence through performance and reliability. As every second is crucial in delivering quality output on time, the HP Z800 enables the user to rise to the challenge through the faster processing of large amounts of data with the optimised synergy of the processor, memory, graphics, OS and software. With the front side bus eliminated by the memory controller, this workstation boosts data flow up to 6.4 Gbps transfers. Its other features are 12 DIMM slots, six-channel DDR3 and up to 32GB bandwidth/memory controller, which will be available in 192GB capacity in the fourth quarter of this year. Innovation is further delivered to the workplace by the system’s new Intel QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) architecture and hard-core 2D- and 3D-graphics power from ATI and NVIDIA. Add to this, the new HP SkyRoom solution that combines real-time 3D graphic-sharing and video-conferencing, and work on the HP Z800 can be seen, shared and shown around the globe. The HP workstation, with its brushed-aluminium chassis, integrated handles, convenient tool-free -access and visually cable-free connections, is designed for speed. The power of control it renders is complete with choice and flexibility bestowed on the user who can opt to expand the workstation with PCI Express Gen 2 configurations, legacy PCI, and eight-channel SAA and six-channel controllers. One can also choose the HP Installer Kit for Linux with simplified installation or a Microsoft Windows-based OS. Even with fast performance, the power and cooling costs are minimised because the configuration is Energy Star-qualified. Power supplies can be 85% -efficient for 850W or 88% for 1,100W (80 PLUS Silver-certified). The HP Z800 assures users of a worry-free operation because of the close relationship with ISVs (independent software vendors). This is to help ensure that HP workstations are fully certified and optimised for users. Also available is the in-depth testing and quality assurance to maintain sustained productivity. The HP Performance Tuning Framework helps ease configuration and updates while optimising a range of applications.
