![]() JVC has made available its latest two HD professional camcorders that support QuickTime format natively:
The compact shoulder GY-HM700E; and the compact handheld GY-HM1 00E 3CCD. The GY-HM700E can record straight to an inexpensive SDHC memory card in the native QuickTime format of Apple’s Final Cut Pro and, as an option, to SxS media which is compatible with Sony’s XDCAM EX format. Support for native formats speeds up the post-production workflow, which can begin immediately after shooting without file conversion or rewrapping. The video quality is also maintained as there is no need to transfer or re-encode files. It is even possible to edit directly from the memory card, without losing first-generation quality. Designed with the professional videographer in mind, JVC is positioning its GY-HM700E as ideal for mainstream production, electronic newsgathering and cinematography. The system is said to be the industry’s first shoulder supported camcorder to store files on inexpensive SDHC memory cards. Two memory card slots are available on the camcorder for up to 64GB of on-board storage — enough for more than six hours of continuous HD recording. The camera automatically begins recording on the second card when the first card fills up, and then vice versa, allowing for virtually unlimited recording lengths. This new camcorder is featured at NAB Show 2009 in April at Las Vegas along with JVC Professional’s full line of HD cameras, broadcast and professional HD LCD and CRT monitors, new large-screen LCD range for round-the-clock digital signage operation, switchers and other equipment such as high-resolution, super contrast D-ILA projectors for use in advanced visualisation. Also look out for the company’s new KAMR100U SxS media recorder, which is suited to the GY-HM700E.
