US-based Tektronix is supplying to China’s Sichuan Changhong Electric its PQA500 picture-quality analyser for the latter’s AVS encoder and decoder design.

Tektronix said the award-winning test-and-measurement solution will be used by the Chinese consumer-electronics manufacturer to optimise the codec performance of its products and accelerate its video product development.

Using Tektronix’s PQA500 is significant to the Chinese market, which is considered as the largest producer and consumer of TV products worldwide.

Changhong Electronic said it is committed to innovate its products in line with China’s advanced audio and video coding standard (AVS).  

“We are now able to credibly communicate our codec picture-quality performance as measured by the Tektronix PQA500, increasing our products differentiation and revenue opportunities,” Changhong added.

The PQA500 enables the company to compare different file or video formats, frame rates, viewing conditions and display models to test the picture quality.

“The PQA500 delivers fast, accurate and reliable assessments of standards conformance and picture quality that will help Changhong quickly launch its high-quality products for China’s own coding standard,” said James Alderton, marketing director, Tektronix Asia Pacific.

Changhong, one of China’s largest consumer-electronics manufacturers, conducts its own R&D and marketing.

Tektronix supplies test, measurement and monitoring products, solutions and services for the communications, computer and semiconductor industries, as well as military/aerospace, consumer electronics, education and a broad range of other industries worldwide.
