A South Korean company specialising in delivery of HDTV broadcasts is relying on ViewCast’s Osprey video-capture card to bring about live HD video streaming that is comparable to conventional HDTV broadcasts. ViewCast said its Osprey-700e HD video-capture card is used in DideoNET’s SeeLive software encoder to enable DideoNET to deliver multimedia services in South Korea. Eric Chung, overseas business team manager at DideoNET, said SeeLive can deliver HD video at low bit rates and low latency “allowing viewers to enjoy Internet-delivered video quality that rivals that of conventional TV broadcasts”. SeeLive is a live streaming broadcast solution based on DideoNET technologies including the company's H.264 codec, stream routing technology and intelligent buffering engine. The Osprey-700e HD is a HD-SDI and SD-SDI A/V input card designed for real-time capture in a 24-hour unattended environment. The card can adapt automatically to incoming SD and HD standards without interrupting the encoding session. It is also capable of rendering other broadcasting applications, such as cropping, watermark overlay, de-interlacing, and closed-caption extraction and rendering. Incorporated into SeeLive, the Osprey-700e HD card offers the solid bandwidth required for high-resolution video capture. Using a high-speed PCI Express bus, the ViewCast card enables SeeLive to deliver 1280 x 720 video from 700kbps to 1Mbps at up to 30fps while maintaining latency at less than two seconds. ViewCast president and CEO Dave Stoner said: "DideoNET's adoption of the Osprey 700e HD capture card provides ViewCast an additional entry into the important Asian, and specifically Korean, markets as well as another foothold in the burgeoning HD streaming market.”
