Oriental Post, a major post-production facility in Bangkok, Thailand, has enhanced its workflow with DVS technology — the DI workstation Clipster, which allows high-speed DCI mastering and Red workflows in real time, while the storage solution, SpycerBox, improves the facility’s data management.

With a Clipster and a SpycerBox SAN, the post-production facility is now able to offer an even broader array of services to its customers. While the SpycerBox SAN enhances the faci-lity’s data management and connection between various clients, Clipster serves as the missing link within the workflow due to its real-time conforming, real-time processing of Red files  and faster-than-real-time DCI mastering.

Oriental Post benefits from the DVS solution’s smooth integration into the existing post-production infrastructure due to its flexibility as an open system. Moreover, because of the duo’s “powerful” performance, Clipster and Spycer-Box accelerate the facility’s workflow. As a comprehensive solution, the DI workstation and the storage system meet both feature and structural requirements at Oriental Post.

Owing to its hardware platform and the specially developed hardware accelerator, Clipster manages to decode and demosaic Red Raw files in full quality at 4k and 12-bit RGB mode in real time. Raw data can be directly displayed, edited in the timeline and played out in parallel in 4k.

Furthermore, Clipster now enables the generation of DCI Masters in 3D; the DI workstation merges left eye and right eye image data, creating a stereoscopic video track in the timeline, which can be edited as regular video material.

With SpycerBox, high-resolution projects can be transferred quickly and reliably. All work-stations can access the SpycerBox not only as a SAN system, but also as a NAS (network attached storage). Oriental Post benefits from a highly powerful storage in a 5HU chassis that offers direct access from different work-stations. The fast data transfer between the single workstations and the SpycerBox results in considerable time savings for editors and colourists.
