 Throughout the show, visitors at last month’s BroadcastAsia2010 have been going in and out of MediaCorp’s HDTV OB van
to find out what equipment and solutions are installed inside.Brett Kilby, Sony Australia’s group manager – Solutions Engineering Professional Solutions and Services Division Business & Professional Products Asia Pacific, says the broadcaster commissioned the OB van as a turnkey solution from Sony Australia. He revealed that it took Sony 12 months to complete the OB van, which was first used for the MediaCorp Star Awards in April this year. Operating a full HD mobile facility calls for MediaCorp’s operators to be trained so as to be able to master HD content creation and broadcast in a compact enclosed area. The Sony solutions installed in the OB van include a MVS8000G video switcher and router system. The van’s production monitor wall are composed of 21 units of Sony’s LMD-2451 monitors, and recording and playback are done using three Sony HDW-M2000P units, three units of PDW HD1500s as well as an EVS broadcast server and an EVS IP Director.
