In response to the 3D trend, Presteigne Charter, an international dry hire and systems rental specialists,
recently developed a portable 3D camera system prototype that affords the ability to move along the sidelines of a pitch and around a venue. The PC-RT1000 combines sensors, CCU (camera control unit) and a remote control panel to provide a complete camera channel whose zoom, focus, inter-axial separation and convergence can be operated at the camera or remotely. According to Mike Ransome, CEO of Presteigne Charter, the PC-RT1000 is a portable 3D camera system which provides camera shots that take viewers into the heart of the action and provides a much more immersive 3D experience. The prototype has been used intensively each week for the past five months on Sky Soccer, Six Nations Rugby, and Cricket and State of Origin Rugby for Ch9 Australia. It is not surprising for Presteigne to develop solutions for sports coverage as one of its high-profile portfolios involves facilitating broadcast requirements for major sporting events around the world. Project Solutions is one of the divisions which Presteigne Charter operates from, of which sports accounts for approximately 70% of the division’s business. To enable the coverage of events such as the Wimbledon Tennis Championships at the All England Club in London, UK, as well as the French Open Tennis Championships in Paris, France, Presteigne maintains an extensive inventory of equipment, including large disc-based solutions from EVS, HD super slow-motion cameras, VTRs, as well as a large range of RF (radio frequency) products such as transmitters and receivers.
