UK-based OB (outside broadcast) contractor Telegenic has decided to use the Grass Valley K2 Dyno replay system (K2 Summit production client and the K2 Dyno replay controller) for 3D replays.

The system is packed for easy transport in a flight-cased flyaway system and is primarily used for sports coverage for UK-based entertainment and communications provider, Sky.

When deployed recently with Tele­genic’s T18 stereoscopic 3D truck, the Grass Valley K2 Summit production client was used to feed mixer animation clips, primarily for 3D graphics sequences, into and out of replays using the K2 Dyno replay controller.

“We listen to our customers and we try to respond to their needs,” said Jeff Rosica, senior vice-president of Grass Valley. “Plenty of people told us that they wanted a powerful, cost-effective and feature-rich replay system, which led us to the development of the K2 Dyno solution.

“With the latest K2 software release including ChannelFlex, the K2 Summit can be feeding stereo 3D clips during one production and handling super slow-motion replays on the next.”
