with more than four times the resolution of full HD, Sony has introduced the VPL-VW1000ES, the world’s “first” true 4k home-theatre projector. Employing an entirely new 4k panel, Sony says that the VPL-VW1000ES produces “outstanding” device contrast and 2,000 ANSI-lumens of brightness. When combined with Sony’s Iris3 home-cinema projector technology, the projector is also able to achieve a 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast. Tsuyoshi Nagata, general manager for Presentation Display, Professional Solutions Company (PSAP), Sony Electronics Asia Pacific, said: “In similar fashion to our industry-leading Sony digital camera 4k projector which has swept across cinemas across the world with over 10,000 units installed, our new VPL-VW1000ES 4k home-theatre projector has been created to not just meet, but also exceed the needs of the most discerning and demanding home-entertainment enthusiasts. “It will allow them to become totally immersed in the viewing experience with the action unfolding before their eyes in a new level of realism, with colours and details unlike anything seen before in home entertainment.” In addition to supporting 4k native resolution, the VPL-VW1000ES projector also features Sony’s exclusive super resolution 4k upscaler “Reality Creation” that enhances multiple content — SD or HD, 2D or 3D — to higher-definition true 4k picture signals. The VPL-VW1000ES will be available in Singapore from March 2012.
