| Argosy offers IMAGE HD video cables for full bandwidth use |
| Posted: March 2009 | ||||||
Argosy is making the most of this year’s NAB show platform to market its extensive range of broadcast cables and related accessories.Maximising operational bandwidth at the lowest-possible return and attenuation loss is the company’s IMAGE HD video cables, which are said to have surpassed the requirements of SMPTE 424M (1080p/60). For SDI-signal transmission, Argosy’s new fibre video converter works by receiving a HD-SDI electrical input, which it transforms into a single-mode optical signal. The converter supports the transmission of SD-SDI (143-540Mbps) and HD-SDI (1.485Gbps). To ensure signal integrity, both transmitter and receiver allow automatic equalisation and input re-clocking. The converter also provides greater distances of up to 20km, depening on the bit-rate being used. The latest addition to the Argosy Mains Distribution Unit (MDU) family is the Argosy Power Manager. These MDUs are designed for full flexibility, which is required by technical operations encompassing TV and radio broadcasts, studio recording, and the services of IT and telecommunications facilities. With16 general-purpose interface (GPI) inputs for the remote management of non-networked rack hardware, the MDUs carry full SNMP alarm monitoring, or the ability to administer control of all input and output locations. Argosy has also unleashed its new LCD HD video monitor range that generates high-quality video monitoring in composite, component, SD and HD formats. The range comes with accompanying tally lights and an easy-to-use scroll menu that is accessible from the front panel, allowing users to select aspect ratio, contrast, colour and sharpness. The monitors, which can accommodate various screen formats, stand over a rack-mount chassis that can be tilted to improve the viewing angle. To address non-linear editing (NLE) issues, Argosy’s Sonarae audio-monitoring system has been designed for monitoring the audio associated with a video-edit session that is part of the NLE process in 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1 surround-sound formats.
