Artel Video Systems has recently released three new modules that deliver 3G-SDI capability to its DL4000 digital video transport system. The DLC300, DLC170AD and DLC170DA add 3G-SDI optical transport, optical protection and analogue-to-digital video conversion to the DL4000’s capabilities, the US-based company stated. The DLC300 is a multi-purpose module for optical transport of all digital video formats from 19.39Mbps (SMPTE 310M) to 3GSDI (SMPTE 424M). It can be configured as a receiver, transmitter or repeater and includes numerous features such as redundant SFP (small-form pluggable) optics with automatic failover switching, ATSC to DVB-ASI conversion, SDI test-signal generation, and dithering or scrambling of SDI signal for transport across optical networks. The DLC170AD converts analogue video and audio to SDI and AES audio, respectively, while the DLC170DA converts SD-SDI to analogue video and audio. Both units include optical transport. The DLC300 and DLC170AD/DA use the same high-power SFP optics as with other DL4000 function modules in WDM, CWDM and DWDM wavelengths. The release of the three modules are in line with the company’s direction of incorporating more features that customers want in the DL4000, said Richard Dellacanonica, president of Artel Video Systems. “In addition, the DLC300 and DLC170DA/AD are designed to interoperate seamlessly with other modules in the platform, including sharing a common set of long-range SFP optics. This enables users to significantly reduce inventory and training costs as well as simplify their network design and ordering process,” Dellacanonica added.
