Network Electronics/VPG, now known worldwide as Nevion, recently presented a number of transport-solution products not only for broadcast delivery but for telecoms networks as well.

Joel Lam, managing director for Nevion Asia, was on hand at the company’s Broadcast-Asia2009 booth last month to show visitors the range, including down-converter (HD-to-SD) modules from the Flashlink format converter platform. The products are said to be made in the well-known flashlink form factor and have very low power consumption, compared with alternative products.

Another key Nevion attraction was the Ventura line of modular video-transport solutions, designed with carrier-class specifications and features in mind. Whether deployed for fibre-overlay transport, telecoms interfacing to SONET/SDH or IP, with or without signal multiplexing, the Ventura platform fulfils today’s and future media transport needs, Lam maintained.

The Ventura products integrate several keystone technologies for compressing TDM, transport stream multiplexing and WDM; mapping to SDTI, ASI, SONET/SDH and IP; providing protection at all network layers — optical, SONET, ASI and SDI; and monitoring to ensure SLA compliance.

This, according to Nevion, has set scales across all video protocols. “It fulfils our pledge to provide solutions for any format, any network and any distance,” Lam said.
