| ESS chooses GlobeCast for cricket broadcast |

Sports content provider, ESPN Star Sports (ESS), chose GlobeCast as its technical broadcast partner
to deliver world-class cricket from the ICC World Twenty20 from the West Indies to the rest of the world. The ICC World Twenty20 comprising 27 men’s matches were covered live by ESS from April 30 to May 16 this year. -Additionally, the women’s semi-finals and the final were beamed across the world, giving similar exposure to women’s Twenty20 cricket worldwide. As the International Cricket Council’s global distribution and broadcast partner, ESS needed a flawless hybrid satellite/fibre solution to broadcast all the games to rights holders across the world in the highest quality, and GlobeCast was chosen as the best provider of this solution. Close to 40 broadcast and syndication partners of ESS broadcasted the action in over 181 territories across the world. GlobeCast deployed engineers at each of the three venues: Providence Stadium in Guyana, Beausejour Stadium in St Lucia, and Kensington Oval in Barbados. -Additionally, GlobeCast provided a 24-hour satellite-booking centre and helpdesk during live transmission. The GlobeCast Backbone Network deployed a diverse, cost-effective and secure fibre path for the transmission of the world feed as well as a unilateral feed for ESS. For the world feed, the signal was sent from the various locations in the West Indies to GlobeCast’s partner teleport in London, where it was uplinked to several international satellites reaching audiences in North America, Western Europe, South Africa, Oceania, the Middle East and Asia. For ESS’ unilateral path, GlobeCast downlinked the feed in London and sent the signal directly via fibre to GlobeCast in Singapore for uplink. A SNG service in New Delhi then downlinked the feed and routed it to ESS facilities in India for additional production before ingesting into its networks.
