| Successful DRM+ Test In India Supported by Nautel |
| Posted: July 2011 | ||||||
Nautel’s VS-1 low power FM transmitter was the transmission backbone of the recent DRM+ trial measurements in India
that “have thrown up very satisfactory results,” according to the Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) Consortium. The test, organised jointly by All India Radio (AIR) and the DRM Consortium, demonstrated the viability of DRM digital radio in the FM band for the Indian market. In addition to the Nautel transmitter, an RF mondial DRM+ Modulator and Fraunhofer DRM Content Server were used. Three programme channels were carried on the test frequency of 100.1MHz. Meanwhile, a test vehicle moving in four alternate directions — from central New Delhi where the Nautel transmitter was installed, measured reception. Nautel’s participation in the test included the use of the 300-watt (500W radiated power) VS-1 as well as a presentation on digital transmission technologies by John Abdnour, Nautel regional sales manager (Asia-Pacific). The presentation was part of a weeklong DRM+ Showcase held on May this year in New Delhi. Nautel and the DRM Consortium also showed a similar system on the Nautel stand during BroadcastAsia2011 in Singapore last month. Peter Conlon, Nautel president and CEO. Said: “The technologies our engineers have developed to support DRM, DRM+ and HD Radio have been proven to be both robust and efficient.”
