| Sony TD300 captures Four Nations Rugby games |
| Posted: January 2012 | ||||||
At a recent series of live Four Nations Rugby League games held at Wembley stadium in London, England,
Broadcast RF, a provider of microwave links and peripheral equipment, used the new Sony TD300 3D camcorder as a 3D radio camera.According to Broadcast RF, that was the first time the Sony TD300 camera was used for this purpose in a live sports production. A major advantage of the TD300 camera, added Broadcast RF, is the form factor. It has the look, feel and weight of a regular 2D camera — meaning that unlike other bigger stereoscopic rigs, the TD300 can be easily used as a shoulder camera or on a Steadicam. The TD300 also has an individual HD-SDI output for each eye, so both left and right eyes are available in full HD resolution, rather than merged into a single side-by-side output. At Wembley stadium, Broadcast RF’s 3D wireless camera control system allowed for various 3D and camera parameters to be controlled remotely from the OB truck. This let the stereographer to have full control of the 3D settings for the TD300, while the vision engineer had access to all the camera’s paint functions by using the Sony RCP1500 control panel.
