| Pebble Beach releasing Dolphin into Asia |
Pebble Beach Systems is using BroadcastAsia2011 as a platform to launch Dolphin, its fully HD integrated channel device, into the Asian market. As an SD/HD video server, master control switcher, character generator and channel-branding solution, Dolphin combines “exceptional channel density with low power consumption”. Each 1RU server is able to deliver up to four full HD channels and comes with 2TB of internal storage, which equates to 100 hours of unique content at 50mbps, or with NAS (network-attached storage). Alex Chelleri, president of Pebble Beach Systems Asia Pacific, says: “Under Pebble Beach Systems’ automation control, Dolphin delivers highly-automated, frame-accurate multi-channel playout and ingest capability, and integrates seamlessly as a standalone device into a system which might also incorporate best-of-breed video server, graphics or captioning devices for prime channels. It can also act as a component of a hybrid channel, mixing Dolphin with best-of-breed discreet devices. This means that the broadcaster can choose the optimum technology for the budgetary and technical needs of each channel. “Crucially, operators are presented with the same user interface, whatever the underlying channel technology across the entire system, and a single system-wide database avoids creating operational silos and simplifies channel control.” Pebble Beach Systems is demon-strating Dolphin together with Marina, Pebble Beach Systems’ next-generation auto-mation system, at the Magna Systems booth 4L2-01.
