| Masstech looks to shine with new Emerald platform |
Looking to offer digital archiving, HQS (high-quality speed) transcoding and content management in an all-in-one,
cost-effective platform, Masstech will be showcasing the new Emerald version 7.5 Lite edition.Designed to digitally preserve valuable stories and content with automated workflows in production, newsrooms and broadcast applications, the Emerald can also double up as a mini MAM (media asset management) tool, performing efficient file-based archiving where scaling is not required. As a standard built-in feature, Emerald integrates tightly into popular newsroom computer systems (NRCS) such as AP-ENPS and Avid’s iNEWS via Media Object Server (MOS) protocol. Using the iNEWS and AP-ENPS interfaces, newsroom staff can research archived content, search slugs linked to video archives, browse archived content, and quickly make shot selections without moving from their desk. Masstech will also be showcasing v7.5.1 of its Topaz digital archiving and hierarchical storage management (HSM) solution. Designed for medium- to enterprise-sized broadcast operation centres and post-production environments to perform efficient file-based archiving and content management, the Topaz solution was recently chosen by Indovision, one of Indonesia’s largest satellite pay-TV providers, for installation at its Jakarta facility. Masstech will provide a Topaz system that will connect directly to Indovision’s Miranda iTX automated playout system to enable the archive, restore and rapid distribution of media content for playout from the nearline system.
