| Posted: February 2009 | ||||||
Philippine-based MediaScape has secured its satellite-delivered DTV platform using the content-security solution provided by NDS, based in the UK.
After a four-month integration period, MediaScape recently launched its new direct-to-home (DTH) service, called Cignal Digital TV, which uses NDS’ set of end-to-end solutions. These solutions include the VideoGuard conditional access, MediaHighway middleware and a customised electronic programme guide (EPG). Aside from offering subscribers its advanced services, MediaScape will be able to introduce future enhancements using the NDS solutions. “We selected NDS as our technology partner because of its proven record in content security, combined with its ability to provide a variety of innovative solutions that support our future road map,” said Benjie S Fernandez, managing director of MediaScape. Sue Taylor, senior vice-president and general manager of NDS Asia-Pacific, said: “NDS’ cutting-edge technologies will allow MediaScape to become a world-class satellite pay-TV operator, enabling it to offer advanced services to engage audiences across the Philippines now and into the future.” MediaScape is a wholly-owned subsidiary of MediaQuest Holdings and is licensed to offer DTH service in the Philippines. MediaQuest is backed by the PLDT Beneficial Trust Fund, which holds various interests in media companies in the Philippines. PLDT, or Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company, is the leading telecommunications company in the country.
