Sony recently unveils new switcher offerings, including the MVS-8000G, MVS-6000 and the BRS-2000.The MVS-8000G is a HD production switcher that offers content producers the highest level of performance, flexibility and customisation. With this, control surfaces can now be configured based on available space and user preferences, and users can choose from either an SD or a multi-format configuration. In addition, the MVS-8000G can support 1080P/59.94. With the help of Sony’s BZS-8560 switcher upgrade software, users can take full advantage of HD production with features such as transition and keyer, combined with the functions of the MVE-8000A DME processor and the BZDM-8560. Available in SD or multi-format, the MVS-8000G switch boasts scalable processor configurations that can be tailored to suit the precise needs of the user. Built upon the reliability and powerful production features of the MVS-8000G, the MVS-6000 is an affordable multi-format switcher available in one to 2.5 ME configurations. The MVS-6000 encompasses the latest technologies that include a newly-developed image processor, internal digital multi-effects (DMEs), clip transition effects, side flags function and multi-format operation — all of which are housed in a very compact frame. Offering excellent multi-platform operation across a variety of SD and HD formats, Sony said one of the unique and very powerful features of the MVS-6000 switcher is its built-in capability to convert formats that can be incorporated simply by adding the MKS-8 50G format converter board, ensuring that any type of signal can be seamlessly handled within the switcher system. This would then minimise the cost of the entire system. With the MKS-8 50G format converter board, the MVS-600 switcher can perform up/down-conversion between HD (1080i and 70P) and SD (80i and 576i), and cross-conversion between 1080i and 70P at both inputs and outputs. With a choice of multiple control-panel types available, the MVS-6000 switcher can be operated in combination with a standard VGA monitor and a mouse, which greatly expands operational flexibility. It is also known for its MVS reliability while boasting scalable configuration that aims to match the broadcasters’ changing needs. Sony’s BRS-200 is a compact switcher which features a control panel and a single RU main unit. It is equipped with an integrated multi-view interface that uses a standard DVI connection, thus allowing for a wide range and cost-effective monitoring solutions. The switcher has a BRC controller in the panel, which allows remote control of the camera functions and up to 99 presets to be utilised. Ideal for low-cost productions, the BRS-200 also offers flexible input and output options, allowing the system to be built according to the user’s needs.
