Bigeni receives ABU award
Posted: March 2009

John BigeniA veteran broadcast engineer, John Bigeni, received a special lifetime achievement award at the ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia early in March.

The award recognises his commitment and contribution to the development of DTV broadcasting in the Asia-Pacific region.

As the Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) Project representative in the region, Bigeni has actively participated in promoting DVB in the countries concerned.

After graduating from the University of New South Wales, Australia, with an honours degree in Electronics Engineering in 1963, Bigeni worked in the broadcast industry holding positions related to design engineering, project management and executive engineering management.

Among the notable positions he held were as director of engineering at SBS-Australia and head of engineering at ABC-TV. He was also chairman of the Broadcast Industry Technical Advisory Group in Australia.
