| Al Jazeera Children’s Channel launches VoD portal Taalam.TV |

 DOHA – Al Jazeera Children’s Channel (JCC) launched Taalam.TV — the first Arabic video-on-demand (VoD)
educational portal for schools and educators. Taalam.TV was established under the patronage of Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Missned, chairperson of Qatar Foundation (QF) for Education Science and Community Development — building on its mission to enrich children’s lives with quality programming and multimedia content. Taalam.TV is an integrated learning website that constitutes an educational complementary tool for teachers and students in school and at home. It brings to the classroom a rich database of educational material and videos extracted from JCC programmes’ content to make teaching more stimulating and engaging, allowing students to store, process and recall information more rapidly. Commenting on this new milestone, Mahmoud Bouneb, executive general manager for Al Jazeera Children’s Channel, said: “I am proud and happy with this new achievement that answers to both QF’s and JCC’s mission to empower the Arab children and enhance their personal capabilities and cognitive abilities by opening up new knowledge horizons and introducing modern learning tools.” He added that Taalam.TV is an ongoing collaborative project between QF, JCC and the Arab educational communities with the aim of providing children, “the citizens of tomorrow”, a better education. “I would encourage every teacher and school to explore the portal, evaluate the audio-visual educational content, and provide us with their comments and input,” Bouneb concluded. The Taalam.TV portal was fully developed by Al Jazeera Children’s Channel website and multimedia team in collaboration with a group of Arab teachers and experts who verified the educational information of the videos, and composed the supplementary tools such as fact sheets and sample exercises.
