India IPTV provider expands subscriber base with SeaChange solution
Posted: April 2009

seachange iptvIndia’s Smart Digivision is expanding the subscriber base of its IPTV service MyWay with the help of SeaChange solutions which enable subscribers to enjoy depth and richness of on-demand, broadcast and covergence offerings.

The IPTV provider last year deployed SeaChange’s TV navigator middleware and electronic programme guide, VoD systems and a bouquet of set-top applications with the aim of increasing its subscriber base to three million over the next few years.

Currently, subscribers of telecoms provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam, and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam are among the first to enjoy the MyWay IPTV services. But SeaChange said its solutions are scalable to accommodate future expansion plans.

Aside from the IPTV services already available to subscribers, Smart Digivision plans to increase the line-up of services in MyWay to include pause live TV; convergence services for integrated e-mail, live e-mail chat, news ticker and railway information; an on-demand library of DVDs, music and games; and 150 broadcast-TV channels.

“We are engaged in delivering IPTV services with the scale and quality that the telecoms industry has envisioned for years,” said Kapil Dev Kumar, COO, Smart Digivision.

“Smart Digivision is moving quickly to turn on world-class depth in TV content, capabilities and new conveniences that finally let India’s consumers enjoy an integrated media lifestyle,” Kumar added.

Bill Styslinger, president and CEO, SeaChange, said his company is committed to support Smart Digivision in its growth plans.

“With increasing frequency, the world’s large telcos with the most ambitious IPTV goals are turning to SeaChange to get them turned on and fully monetised,” said Styslinger.

“Decisions in our favor come down to a singular focus that has produced the business intelligence and range of successful products to make any kind of advanced TV roll-out happen elegantly, whether customers want one piece or our whole portfolio.”

Besides Smart Digivision, SeaChange also offers content acquisition services and solutions for advertising, broadcasting and mobile video-on-demand.
