| StarRail allows broadband on the move |
| Posted: July 2009 | ||||||
Starling Advanced Communications has launched the StarRail.
The newest entry in its portfolio of flat-panel satellite antennas for broadband on the move provides broadband communications aboard high-speed trains. Said Jacob Keret, vice-president, marketing and sales, Starling Advanced Communications: “The StarRail offers unparallelled value, both in terms of performance and return on investment. Its two-way continuous broadband connectivity is reliable at speeds exceeding 300kph, and its high efficiency gives operators a lower cost per megabyte.” Starling products leverage Ku-band and coherent multi-panel antenna technology (CoMPA), allowing powerful multi-Mbps performance for voice, streaming Internet and video, and the transmission of other types of heavy files, with simultaneous support for all passenger and crew applications. Measuring only 38" in diameter, the 60-pound StarRail with a low 7.5" profile features an aerodynamic design that ensures virtually no interference with surrounding power lines, offering complete tunnel clearance. All radio-frequency and electronic components are also integrated within one self-contained unit, ensuring fast and easy one-wire installation, reducing downtime and long-term maintenance costs. The antenna design helps maximise the efficient use of bandwidth and beam width, significantly shrinking the cost of satellite time. The StarRail complies with all railway standards, and is said to be ideal for cross-continent and international high-speed rail travel across any type of terrain.
