Memorial hall adopts Cayin’s digital signage solution
Posted: December 2009

National Dr Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, a popular sightseeing spot and multi-functional centre in Taipei, has replaced most of its traditional bulletin boards with Taiwan-based Cayin Technology’s digital signage solutions.

Cayin, which offers a complete port-folio of digital signage solutions including media players, servers and software, has installed at the memorial hall 11 of its SMP-Web media players (SMP-WebPlus & SMP-WebPlus-T) together with 42-inch LCD screens.

The SMP-WebPlus media players are installed at audio-visual rooms, auditoriums and lecture halls showing ongoing or future events’ details, current time, weather, meeting/activity schedule and a brief introduction of the memorial hall either by video or by ticker texts.

An interactive public information sys-tem is also one of the major enhance-ments for the memorial hall.

The SMP-WebPlus-T, a touch-screen-enabled digital signage player, has been set up at the lobby to entice visitors to try various on-screen interactive activities.

Cayin said SMP-Web series players possess great flexibility for multimedia presentations and can be easily integrated with various applications. To present content richness, administrators of the memorial hall has designed the webpage layout aiming to present more unique and vivid multimedia images.

xPost, the specially designed appli-cation software for hotels and convention centres, can also be applied with SMP-Web series players to display weather information, meeting schedule, way-finding information and promotional messages.

To manage all media players effectively and simultaneously, the memorial hall also purchased one CMS-Mini content management server. Data can be updated and synchronised to all players at one time through central scheduling from the server. Furthermore, Cayin’s management software, SuperMonitor, collaborates with the CMS server to monitor the status of all systems to ensure continuous operation.

The Cayin’s SuperReporter also assists the administrators in generating players’ playback and system status reports.

Administrators of the memorial hall said the installation and deployment of the Cayin digital signage system not only allows information to be accessible to visitors quickly and accurately, but also benefits the administrators by way of lower per-son-nel costs and more convenience on billboard maintenance such as information updates.

In another development, Cayin has also successfully set foot in the international sports tour-nament, participating in the 21st Summer Deaflympics Taipei 2009 in September in live broadcasts of the games and game-schedule displays.

The company provided a number of SMP-Web3 digital signage players together with 100- and 300-inch LED displays deployed in 20 venues. Cayin said its digital signage solutions improved information transmission efficiency and  provided spectators with a brand-new visual experience, and the status of ongoing games.

Each of the 20 indoor and outdoor game venues was installed with an SMP-Web3 digital signage player and 100-inch/300-inch LED signage. Each game was recorded and transmitted immediately to large LED signage from camcorders to players.

The SMP-Web3 not only supports Flash animation, HTML webpage, image, text and video, but also streams video by directly connecting to a TV tuner, DVD player and camera, among others. Cayin said the SMP-Web3 is  suitable for coverage of sporting events thanks to its capability to present flexible and diverse multimedia information.
